Bristol post-punkers Sapphire Blues have returned with a stunning new single, “Daydream”.
After a successful 2020 which saw them garner praise from the likes of So Young Magazine, Hard of Hearing Music, and The Zine, Sapphire Blues are beginning 2021 with a bang.
“Daydream“, so say the band, is a song “inspired by a book not worth reading and the age-old story of being overworked and underpaid. Lyrically, the song was pieced together over a fair few years of struggling to make ends meet. It touches upon the ever-increasing prescription of anti-depressant drugs and how they serve to make you cold blooded in the face of menial work; making it all the more bearable, thus enslaving the human spirit.”
Being quite a personal song, getting it down on paper served as a source of catharsis for lead singer Sam Lance Jones. Sonically, the song correlates perfectly with the lyrics as it’s tense, agitated, and punchy.
A brilliant single, “Daydream” is out now and I highly recommend getting on it. While you’re there, be sure to check out previous releases “Ourselves Forgotten” and “Good Morning Britain“.
Oh, and follow the rise of Sapphire Blues on Instagram and Facebook.
