Signed to Waterford based record label Egg Twelve, the drive. is an alt-rock three-piece from Cork. They cite Manchunian legends The Stone Roses, Oasis, and The Smiths as their influences.
They released their debut single “Cigarettes and Lemonade” in early 2020, with their earlier mentioned influences a strong presence on the track.
For a debut release, “Cigarettes and Lemonade” certainly doesn’t sound like a starting point. It’s the sound of a composed band apt at creating atmosphere.
They’ve followed it up with the release of a second single, “Anchor” which came out earlier this month. “Anchor” is slightly more on the pop side but their core sound remains intact.
Does the drive. have what it takes to make it? Absolutely, time is on their side and if they stick to what they love doing, there’s no telling how far they’ll go.
