Martha Greer is a 17-year-old singer-songwriter from Bangor, County Down. Dirty Old Shoes is her debut EP and you need to hear it. Simples.
Dirty Old Shoes, released in July, consists of stories that are both personal and universal. They’re delivered in an honest, sharp fashion and grounded in indie rock, with Martha switching between acoustic and electric guitar.
The EP came into fruition in early 2020 and is Martha’s first DIY project. You can hear this in the songs as each has a homely, warm feel to it. While that adds to the listening experience, it also signifies Martha’s potential and guarantees that there’s plenty more great music to come.
Martha cites Phoebe Bridgers as one of her influences and the impact the Californian’s music has had on Martha’s writing is evident throughout (plus one song is titled ‘Can We Listen To Phoebe Bridgers?’). Other influences include The Smiths, Wolf Alice, and This Is The Kit, each to be heard somewhere on Dirty Old Shoes.
