Singer-songwriter Yana has released her debut EP Distant Shore, a powerful collection of folk songs inspired by friends and the sounds of Ireland.
Distant Shore features four carefully formed tracks, three of which, “Distant Shore”, “Will You Be There” and “Trapped In A Cage” have all been released previously and played extensively on radio.
Distant Shore also contains “The Book Of Your Life”, a song in tribute to the late Fergus O’Farrell of Interference who remains Yana‘s greatest songwriting influence. Acclaimed fiddle player Colm Mac Con Iomaire also adds a deep emotional layer to the track.
Yana cites a wide range of influences when talking about the inspiration behind Distant Shore, including the likes of Interference, Mic Christopher, Glen Hansard and Nick Cave.
She has also worked and played with the likes of Liam Ó Maonlaí and Colm Mac Con Iomaire, while also supporting The Hills Mover.
Distant Shore is available via Yana’s Bandcamp and you can find out more about Yana and her music on her website and Facebook.
