New Jackson marks his long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s From Night To Night with his new album OOPS!… POP.
Out via long-time collaborators Permanent Vacation, OOPS!… POP is a triumph in techno-pop, with its nine tracks turning electronic sounds into anthemic bangers. Recorded over five years and across three different countries, OOPS!… POP is a far-out, experimental record that manages to remain accessible throughout.
New Jackson is, of course, David Kitt. Under his New Jackson alias, Kitt has produced an array of anything-goes electronic music and OOPS!… POP is no different. The album features a stellar line-up of collaborators, too, including Rita Lynn, Donnacha Costello, Riche ‘Jape’ Egan, Yenkee, Kean Kavanagh, Margie Jean Lewis, Meg Cronin and Fehdah.

Opening track “Si Si Si” lulls the listener with its patient groove before tracks “Burnt Deep”, “Like”, and personal favourite “Out of Reach” attack deep house and techno power-pop.
“Day In Shock” digi-dubs around Fehdah’s vocals in the purest heads-down manner while “I Wanna Be Adored”, a daring take on The Stone Roses’ Madchester anthem, is reimagined as a lost kraut-pop robo-sung classic. The album closer, “With The Night at Our Feet”, leads us to a climactic conclusion, a mechanised symphony of dual proportions chugging along in electro rhythm before soaring strings take us on our way.
All in all, OOPS!… POP bears the hallmarks of the studio albums of yesteryear in its dynamism and gratification.
