Danny Carroll, co-curator of the A Litany Of Failures compilation series, has a new song out. “Cheesemonger” features on the aforementioned compilation and finds Carroll wrestling with self-deprecation and sincerity.
This is Carroll’s second single of the year following the January release of “Affection“. Hailed as “a compelling re-introduction” (The Last Mixed Tape) and an “idiosyncratic first outing” (Headstuff) the track received coverage on RTÉ Radio 1 and Hot Press among others.
Having opened for Jeffrey Lewis and Pavement guitarist Spiral Stairs, Carroll switched his focus to recording his debut album. Working with Belfast-based producer Chris W. Ryan (NewDad, Just Mustard, Robocobra Quartet), the two developed songs with a playful, anything-goes approach. Incorporating classical guitar, lap steel, and melodica, Carroll’s songs have been compared to the likes of Wilco, Jonathan Richman, and Lee Hazelwood.
