Mick Flannery has been busy of late. Not only did he recently release his new single “Goodtime Charlie”, but he has also signed to John Prine’s Oh Boy Records and has a new album coming this September.
Goodtime Charlie, Mick Flannery’s eighth album, will be released on Oh Boy Records, the label founded by legendary singer/songwriter John Prine. This is Mick’s first international signing.
On signing to the label, Mick said, “I can hardly believe that my latest album will be released on John Prine’s label. I have loved John Prine’s songs for a long time now. That those who John loved and trusted have put their faith in me is something I will never forget.”
Have a watch Mick’s cover of one of John Prine’s most beloved songs, “Hello In There”.
While Mick Flannery has already collaborated with other notable songwriters (In the Game with Susan O’Neill), Goodtime Charlie features Valerie June, Tianna Esperanza and Anaïs Mitchell all performing alongside Mick. Ana Egge, Justin Stanley, Adam Landry, longtime collaborator Tony Buchen and Andrew House (Christy Skulls) also appear on co-writing duties.
Of Goodtime Charlie, Mick says, “It sparks you out of your comfort zone. It opens up the neural pathways; you wonder ‘how would someone else do this?’.
