Echo Boy is the debut EP by Cork art-rockers Pretty Happy, and you need to hear it.
Released on November 14th 2022 through Foggy Notions, Echo Boy features previously released single ‘Boots’ as well as ‘Peanut Paulie’, ‘Husband’ and ‘Conn Boxing’.
Produced by John ‘Spud’ Murphy at Hellfire Studios in Dublin, Echo Boy is as strong an EP a band can hope to produce. Clearly a confident bunch, Pretty Happy manage to leave quite the impression in just under 15 minutes. From the madness of ‘Peanut Paulie’ to ‘Husband’ and its unpredictability, we get the sense that the band are eager to establish their unique style but by considered, purposeful means.
‘Conn Boxing’ may just be the pick of the bunch. Its tantalising drums, the simmering angst of the bass, the spoken word delivery and subject matter – ugh, magic.
