Vendetta Dolls shine on debut single ‘Rubies’

A self-described “modern Victorian family of atmospheric music makers”, Vendetta Dolls hail from Belfast and dabble in dreamy grunge. They’re not bad at it either, as their debut single ‘Rubies’ shows.

Made up of members Emily, Karishma, Jonni, and Michael, Vendetta Dolls cite the likes of Mazzy Star, The Smashing Pumpkins, and The Breeders as influences. While ‘Rubies’ does hint towards prime dream pop/grunge/alt-rock, Vendetta Dolls certainly have their own way of doing things.

Vendetta Dolls’ Emily said of writing ‘Rubies’ that, “My natural response when things get tough is to run, but the reality is that I never do. That constant undercurrent persists across all avenues of my life.  I wrote ‘Rubies’ to capture that feeling.”

For a debut single, ‘Rubies’ is a solid, promising effort. It leaves the listener wanting more and when the song gets the response it deserves, I’m sure Vendetta Dolls will be only too happy to oblige.

‘Rubies’ is available now over on Bandcamp and for more information on Vendetta Dolls, head to their Instagram page today.
