Derry multi-instrumentalist & songwriter Neil Burns, aka Comrade Hat, has released a new single ‘Deep Sleep’, the final release from his upcoming album, Old Gods, Vol. 1.
With a background in classical composition and jazz, a catalogue of releases that cover acoustic, electronic, and experimental work, Comrade Hat has been steadily building a cult following. His music, described as “equal parts lounge lizard, soul-searching balladeer, and cosmic adventurer”, has been critically acclaimed.
And, while his work has been likened to the sound of Elliot Smith, I hear a bit of our own Postcard Versions in his work.

Produced by Burns himself, ‘Deep Sleep’ builds from a pared back guitar and unseasonably-tropical, drum-machine-based arrangement, growing in time with the help of longtime collaborator Rohan Armstrong on bass.
