Cork-based six-piece Pebbledash have blessed the airwaves and our ears by releasing two new singles from their upcoming debut EP. “Killer Lover”, the engrossing lead single, is accompanied by their rendition of the enchanting, centuries-old sean-nós “Carraig Aonair”.
Since releasing their first single in 2023, Pebbledash have become a staple of the Cork music scene. Even in their infancy, they’ve played the likes of Cork’s prestigious St. Luke’s Cathedral and Everyman Theatre, as well as headlining Cyprus Avenue, Galway’s Roisín Dubh, and Dublin’s Whelan’s Upstairs. Not only that, but the band has shared stages with Bar Italia, Junior Brother, Elaine Malone and Girlfriend to name a few.

Pebblesdash’s new lead single “Killer Lover” captures all that makes this band one to watch. Opening slowly and building to an epic crescendo, the song boasts a patience reminiscent of Yo La Tengo. At the same time, its unique lead vocal pairing of Fionnbharr and Asha gives it an element of give and take. An ode to Cork City, “Killer Lover” grew from “conflicted notions of loving and hating a place and time simultaneously.”
Second single “Carraig Aonair” is a lament written by Conchbhar O laoghaire for his three sons, Finin, Cormac and Donal and the husband of his daughter who drowned together close to Fastnet Rock. Sung by Asha, it brings a centuries-old song into the modern world while retaining its depth and meaning.
These songs were recorded in Crowleys Music Centre, Cork, by Andy Killan, aka, Ankil.
