Christian Wethered Shares Inspiring New Song “Into the Garden”

Folk artist and poet Christian Wethered has returned to our airwaves with a thoughtful new single, “Into the Garden.”

Drawing inspiration from the story of Adam and Eve, “Into the Garden” addresses our changing perceptions of home and once again highlights Christian’s talents as a writer.

He’s no stranger to scripting memorable songs, as his 2021 debut album Mon Petit Jardin was a Hotpress top folk album. He has also appeared at The Ruby Sessions, Electric Picnic, and most recently the Main Stage at Beyond the Pale Festival, where he opened for John Francis Flynn and Bonobo.

Of his latest release, Christian says: “This lonely song charts the tragic but necessary shattering of one’s ideas of perfection, innocence, and home. Once they have left, the lovers cannot return to the Garden of Eden – similarly, each new experience, while beautiful, also has an element of sacrifice. I grew up in Sussex and have spent the last 20 years in and out of Ireland. The increasing number of homeless refugees on the streets of Dublin, the catastrophic conflict in Russia and the Ukraine, and the ongoing genocide in Gaza only serve to problematise our concept of home beyond our wildest conceptions.”
