Common Threads 2024: A Voyage of Music & Art

Common Threads, the two-day trail of musical and cultural discovery set against the backdrop of The Burren, returns for its second year on Friday the 11th and Saturday the 12th of October, 2024.

Curated and programmed by Peter Kelly and Daithí O Dronaí, Common Threads explores the common links/threads between a vibrant local community, key cultural spaces, and a mesmerising natural landscape through art, live music, and endless discovery.

Common Threads will provide a unique opportunity for attendees to experience the best of what the area has to offer as they travel by bus to soak up performances at beautiful local locations and pit stops at points of natural scenic beauty.

Speaking about this year’s event, Daithí O Dronaí said, “It’s amazing to be back for our second year. We’ve built a beautiful community around Common Threads, and it’s lovely to be part of something new and exciting. We’re stepping up this year as well, with a bigger production and a second day. The lineup is really special, with some of the best artists in the country.”

Co-founder Peter Kelly added, “Getting to do this once was a dream come true for us. Having the opportunity to return to The Burren for a second year is just incredible. We have some special surprises and tweaked some aspects around for a better experience while maintaining the special energy from last year.”

This year’s event will feature fan favourites such as John Francis Flynn, Sorcha Richardson, HousePlants, Ailbhe Reddy, Uly, Negro Impacto, Royal Yellow, Mynameisjohn, Eugene Lambe, Fleeting Devotion and Piqué, with many more to be announced.

Committed to sustainability, Common Threads aims to minimise its environmental impact by collaborating with local suppliers and vendors to source eco-friendly products and materials. The event highlights local food and drink producers and encourages attendees to reduce their environmental footprint through initiatives such as a litter-free policy and waste reduction measures. Festival-goers will travel by bus between venues to further reduce the event’s environmental impact.
