Rupert Angeleyes Releases Third Album Pillow Talk

Psych/dream pop raconteur Rupert Angeleyes has today released his third album, Pillow Talk.

Based in Minneapolis and formerly a Los Angeles resident, Rupert Angeleyes has collaborated with bands like Sleeping in the Aviary, Joey Joey Michaels, and Hot Freaks. Angeleyes has been steadily fleshing out his own sound and brand of buttery bangers, serving it up hot on Pillow Talk which includes layers of whispered French melodies and ever-sexy saxophone.

Reminiscent of early Tame Impala, Pillow Talk is an almost complete solo project as Angeleyes played most of the instruments on the album himself.

Check out the video for “In The Light” below, created in collaboration with musician/director Jimmy Whispers in Angeleyes’ old neighborhood of Montecito Heights in Los Angeles.

Speaking about Pillow Talk, Angeleyes said: “I spent the majority of my 20s in a long-committed relationship and had difficulty feeling loved or appreciated. From 2017-2020, I selfishly experimented with my ego. I wanted to see if someone found me attractive. I knew it was superficial, to strike up conversations with strangers.

“However, I wanted that validation. Like creativity, it’s important to tread into unknown waters and react and learn from what happens. To explore. This collection of songs is an attempt to understand myself and the various relationships I went through.”
