Stratford Rise return with new single “World’s Fair”

“World’s Fair” is the new single by up-and-coming Northern Ireland-based band Stratford Rise.

Presenting their sound as the “house band for the last days of Rome”, Stratford Rise were described by The Thin Air as “one of the most exciting emerging guitar bands in Ireland at the moment” following the release of their cracking debut single “Water Running Through Faucet“.

Not a band to bow down to genre, “World’s Fair” finds Stratford Rise blending jazz, noise rock, funk, no-wave, disco and pop through harsh noise, raw guitar, and angular rhythms, not to mention danceable grooves and pop-centric melodies.

The track was recorded with Jonny Woods at his 1980 Something Studios base, where the band and Jonny experimented with various sounds and layering to create the sonic deluge that is “World’s Fair”.

Lyrically, “World’s Fair” takes an ironic look at the perverse trappings of business culture, coupled with an examination of the march of progress. In true Stratford Rise form, the lyrical content is juxtaposed against the World’s Fair, the quinquennial celebration of new and innovative achievements across nations.
