Ahead of their sophomore album Dream Big, Soda Blonde have released a powerful new single, “Midnight Show”.
The second single released following July’s “Bad Machine“, “Midnight Show” is a perfect indie-pop ballad. This, of course, is no controversial statement given that we’ve come to expect nothing less from Soda Blonde since their debut album Small Talk came out.
Thematically, “Midnight Show” weighs “disillusionment with the music industry on one hand, and the unapologetic pursuit of one’s desires – to the point of prostituting yourself for success – on the other.” These sentiments are expertly conveyed in lyrics such as: I’ve been told I’m a pro/It was never what I wanted though/Tell me though if you know/Never mind I have a midnight show.
